About

The church of St. Lawrence is situated on the main road (Hackney Lane) at the East end of the village of Barlow. The history of a church in this location is long, possibly from Saxon times. The History page on this website gives as much detail as we know about the origins and development of the church through to its current form.

The church is part of a Joint Benefice with Sts. Peter and Paul, Old Brampton which is not far away as the crow flies but is a good four miles or more by road. Our vicar also has responsibility for the Anglican element of the Local Ecumenical Partnership which is Loundsley Green Church.

The village of Barlow is largely rural with mostly private dwellings. Its village school is Barlow Church of England Primary School and is closely linked to our Church.
